Dear Sirs and Madams,
In May 2017, the Ukraine Herbal Products Association (UHPA) launched an initiative to bring together agricultural producers of medicinal and aromatic plants, academic and research circles, botanical gardens, and manufacturers of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food products to lay the groundwork favorable to the development of the industry producing medicinal, aromatic and essential-oil-bearing plants to provide market players with safe and high-quality plant raw materials.
Our key objectives:
- To improve business environment, introduce efficient business models and enhance competitiveness and export potential of domestic producers operating in the industry;
- To implement WHO Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) as a mandatory standard in Ukraine;
- To establish an information system to share about business climate on the market of medicinal plants, extracts, essential oils and related products;
- To attract investments to upgrade available production facilities and build new innovative agricultural complexes which grow and process medicinal plants;
- To represent the UHPA’s interests in projects and initiatives undertaken by international institutions, companies and organizations.
In view of our mission and objectives, we would welcome cooperation with you, our dear colleagues, in areas of common interest such as:
- Building a system able to meet the demand of the Ukrainian and world markets in safe and high-quality medicinal plants to manufacture pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and foods;
- Development of national and regional modules to the GACP Guidance and implementing recommendations thereto;
- Studies of new active pharmaceutical ingredients of plant raw materials and development of pharmaceuticals, special food and cosmetic products using such ingredients;
- Breeding and development of modern methods for breeding and gathering of medicinal plants focused on wild flora preservation;
- Data exchange on ranges and volumes of medicinal plants grown and gathered on a region-by-region basis.
We strongly believe that only joint well-balanced efforts taken by Ukrainian and international specialized agricultural producers, breeders, academic and research circles, manufacturers of specialized machinery and equipment, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food products, and financial institutions will help us to succeed in providing people with affordable, safe, and high-quality products and preserving wildlife.
